The kitchen handle has always been a much discussed element of furniture. A component very difficult to design, as it must satisfy a multiplicity of aspects ranging from the ergonomic to the industrial dimension, from functionality to aesthetics.
For decades we have witnessed the progressive desire to hide or eliminate handles in order to reward the absolute aesthetics of the door. On the other hand, in some markets there is still a nostalgic affection for the handle, a tactile amulet that guides our relationship with the product.
Over time, TM Italia has collected a series of style details, developed for some of her collections and endowed with great character. Kitchen models such as Rua, Miuccia and Avignon or concepts such as Neolite and D90/12 have handles endowed with a great personality guided by the stylistic signature of the authors.
Ruadelpapavero has developed an important grip system made of 2 mm thick galvanized metal and shaped with a trapezoidal shape.
The handles are designed to be applied both horizontally and vertically, both in line and mirrored. The grip is comfortable and robust, but at the same time endowed with great visual grace and delicacy in terms of thickness.
The Miuccia handles for kitchens are available in the following finishes: Copper, Antique Bronze and Polished stainless steel or other customized lacquering required by the project.
Also for Miuccia, leather handles with metal ends have been designed, combining visual delicacy with tactile warmth and skilled craftsmanship.
The handles in the kitchen interpret a more material and decisive feeling. Important thicknesses of 5 mm and a marked verticality, accompanied by a ferromicaceous finish with a three-dimensional effect that gives an interesting tactile feeling.
For the drawers fronts, the Rua model offers a metal handle with the same treatment, but in a recessed mode: the same tactile experience but maintaining great visual essentiality. Rua handles are available in anthracite metal finish or other customized lacquering.
The architect Nicola Gallizia has developed a very elegant grip through a in-depth study of the proportions to give rhythm to the vertical partition respecting precise formal relationships that balance the whole design.
The handle is a tribute to tactility and forces full contact with the material. The handle of the Avignon model is available in the following finishes: all wood essences, metals, stones and lacquers.
This concept developed by the TM Italia research and development department introduces a fully electro-welded metal handle applied on the door. A detail of great value, which accompanies the two retractable doors with an important grip.
The handle of the Neolite model, like every TM Italia concept, is available in all the metal finishes included in the collection: Oxidized steel, Titan, Graphite, Champagne, Brass, Dark bronze, Oxidized copper and Corten.
This concept developed by the TM Italia R&D team features a gripping solution for the glass doors also welded along its entire length to guarantee formal rigor and the absence of joining elements that could interrupt the refined transparency. A thickness of 0.7 cm allows a solid and comfortable grip.
Similarly to all the technical components and specialized hardware, there are many types of handles on the market with which to set up your kitchen: without dedicated thought and exclusive design, however, they produce an aesthetic homogenization with little personality.
A design handle is instead a style detail, a refined cufflink that gives personality to the entire outfit. Although it is an apparently secondary element, the handle represents contact with the product, the element with which the individual builds an experience and a functional interaction with his furniture, as well as representing a visual sign that gives rhythm to the vertical space, contributing to give character to both the product and the kitchen environment.
With different materials of TM Italia handles combined with standard finishes, the combination possibilities are almost endless.
For example, the Miuccia handle with the Copper finish can be combined with the glossy finishes of the stone worktops, or in contrast with the matt surfaces of the 31 standard lacquers – matt or embossed, and 5 variants of velvet lacquers of the Miuccia doors, in addition to endless custom shades that you can apply.
Based on the choice of the worktop and the finish of the doors, TM Italia proposes 8 combinations of colours from which to draw inspiration, starting from the iconic interpretation of Miuccia in Miuccia Blue Velvet Lacquered combined with a worktop in Volakas stone and handles in polished Copper .
The Antique bronze handle can be combined with the stones with warm veins that recall the tones of the handle, or they can be combined with cold colours to create contrasts. The third finishing option proposed for the Miuccia handle is polished steel for more technical solutions in shades of white, gray or black.
The cold materiality of the Rua handle proposed in Anthracite gray finish goes well with all the 15 wood essences and their stained variants proposed by TM Italia, including Rovere fumo – smoked oak veneer, chosen by the designer Ruadelpapavero himself for the interpretation of the kitchen space of the Rua model.
For the Rua doors, in addition to wood, you can opt for lacquered finishes and furthermore the color of the core can be also customized – it can be dyed in contrast with the surface, natural or lacquered ton-sur-ton.
The Avignon model suggests an interpretation of the sober and refined kitchen environment. The important handle has been designed to offer structural solidity but at the same time visual lightness.
Thanks to its sophisticated design and the application of the wood-on-wood or stone-on-stone material, the handle literally disappears on the doors. When, on the other hand, the handle of the wooden door embraces the thickness of the top, it is advisable to make it in stone, in continuity with the worktop.
Designer handles are not strictly linked to their models. The Miuccia and Rua handles can also be applied to the D90 door with a straight profile and smooth surface.
In this case, the choice of materials is amplified, allowing to choose between wood essences, premium essences such as Olive, Rosewood or Sycamore, essences with a material surface, matt, embossed, glossy and special lacquers with a metallic effect, back-lacquered glass, Corian, ecomalta, stoneware, laminates and Fenix laminates, steels, metals, applied leaf, marbles, granites and stones.
This transversality widens the offer of the finishes and materials of the doors to which handles can be applied to more than 350.
